Visit to Father Maurice Oudet in 2003
at the Headquaters of L’Orange Bleue in France.

 

 In the centre of varietals selection
of Farakoba , Burkina Faso

All started by an internet contact in 2002 with Father Maurice Oudet, activist of alter-mondialism, on his website abcburkina.com. We shared some correspondences, before we decided to travel to Burkina Faso .
Apart from this contact, we knew that Burkina Faso had carried out some advances on researches on fonio. Particularly a team of CIRAD was based locally and involved in the coordination of a sub-regional project on post-harvest equipments of fonio. We also knew that the research centre of Farakoba, not far from Bobo-Dioulasso, was working on the characterization of varieties.
Finally we took an appointment with the economic service of France Embassy which seemed to be interested to carry out an intermediation with some operators and partners of Burkina…
We finally started in Nouna, with Ocades, at that time managed by Abbé Jean-Baptiste Traoré. Therefore we made the first steps at that place in the Kossi region.
